COVID-19 IgM/IgG antibodies
The test consists of detecting IgM/IgG antibodies by extracting a blood sample.
- IgM antibodies, found mainly in blood and lymphatic fluid; this is the first antibody the body makes to fight a new infection. (In this case it would indicate that the patient could be suffering from the disease actively, or recently)
- IgG antibodies are the most abundant type of antibody in the body. It is found in blood and other fluids and provides protection against bacterial and viral infections.
